Caritas was established in 2011 when a group of Kentuckians came together to form a nonprofit organization to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs. What was then known as Central Kentucky Case Management, provided supportive services and advocacy to individuals participating in various waiver programs. In 2022, the Board of Directors recognized that the organization provided much more than case management and advocacy, unanimously voting to change the name to Caritas to better reflect the mission and vision. Caritas is a latin term for love-charity.
